Ammunition Modernization Program
I.M.I's 5.56mm/7.62mm SCAMP line has been in operation since 1980. The
SCAMP line is a fully automated process which produces over a thousand cartridges
per minute, providing IMI with a production capability in excess of 1.25 million
cartridges per day. The SCAMP line was developed to enable production without
manual handling between the stages of production. The line is completely computer
controlled, and incorporates electronic gaging, assuring 100% inspection of
the components and cartridges. Powder level of the assembled cartridges is measured
on-line, radiologically, assuring that the propellant load in every cartridge
is in accordance with specifications.
In 1997 IMI proudly marks the addition of a 9mm SCAMP line. With
the start up of the new 9mm line, IMI takes its place at the forefront of 9mm
cartridge manufacture, while continuing to maintain its position as a leading
manufacturer of 5.56mm and 7.62mm cartridges.
